Which kibble is right for your dog?

Every dog is different. Age, activity level, life stage, and any sensitivities help determine which diet is the best fit. That is why we offer different types of dog kibble, each with its own characteristics.

Below, we clearly explain the differences so that you can more easily choose a suitable food for your dog.

Pressed kibble

Pressed dog kibble is compressed at a relatively low temperature. This creates a compact kibble with a different structure than a crunchy one.

In the stomach, pressed kibble breaks down relatively quickly. This makes pressed food a pleasant choice for daily use for many dogs.

Combining pressed kibble with fresh meat

One advantage of pressed kibble is that it can be combined with fresh meat. This allows you, for example, to feed a portion of pressed kibble and supplement it with fresh meat.

When feeding a combination, always ensure that the total daily amount of food matches the energy and nutritional needs of your dog.

Characteristics of pressed kibble:

  • Compact structure
  • Breaks down relatively quickly in the stomach
  • Can be combined with fresh meat
  • Suitable for daily use
  • Available for different ages and activity levels

Crunchy kibble

Crunchy dog kibble is extruded during the production process. Here, the ingredients are processed under heat and pressure into an airy and crunchy kibble.

Because of this structure, crunchy kibble is tasty and easy to feed. For many dogs, it forms a complete daily meal.

Characteristics of crunchy kibble:

  • Crunchy and airy structure
  • Stimulates chewing
  • Easy to portion
  • Suitable for daily use
  • Available for different ages and needs

Grain-free kibble

Grain-free dog kibble does not contain grains such as wheat, corn, rice, or barley. Instead, other carbohydrate sources are used, depending on the composition of the food.

Grain-free food can be a good choice if you consciously want to avoid feeding grains or if your dog does not tolerate certain types of grain well.

Characteristics of grain-free kibble:

  • Completely grain-free
  • Alternative carbohydrate sources
  • Different flavors and compositions possible
  • Suitable for dogs where grains are intentionally avoided

Note: grain-free does not automatically mean hypoallergenic. Dogs can also be sensitive to other ingredients or specific animal protein sources.

Vegetarian – Hypoallergenic

Our vegetarian kibble is developed for dogs for whom animal ingredients are consciously avoided.

These kibbles contain no meat, no fish, and no other animal products. The food is therefore completely free of animal ingredients.

This makes the kibble particularly interesting for dogs that react sensitively or allergically to certain animal protein sources.

Characteristics of our vegetarian kibble:

  • No meat
  • No fish
  • No animal products
  • 100% meat- and fish-free
  • Alternative protein sources
  • Suitable for dogs where animal proteins are avoided
  • Complete daily nutrition

In the case of severe or persistent allergic complaints, we always recommend investigating the cause of the symptoms together with a veterinarian.

Puppy & Junior

Puppies and young dogs are in the midst of development. As a result, they have different nutritional needs than adult dogs.

Puppy & Junior kibble is specially formulated for this important life stage. The ratio of energy, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, among others, is tailored to the needs of a growing dog.

Characteristics of Puppy & Junior:

  • Specially developed for young and growing dogs
  • Adjusted energy and nutrient content
  • Supports the development of bones and muscles
  • Focused on healthy growth and development

Also for pregnant dogs

During pregnancy, a female dog's nutritional needs change. Especially as pregnancy progresses, she needs extra energy and nutrients.

We therefore recommend feeding pregnant dogs Puppy & Junior kibble. Puppy food is richer in composition and contains nutrients that meet the increased requirements during pregnancy and later during the nursing of the puppies.

The transition and the amount of food should be tailored to the stage of pregnancy, the weight, the condition, and the needs of the female dog. If in doubt, we recommend consulting a veterinarian.

Adult

When a dog has finished growing, its nutritional needs change. An adult dog requires a balanced diet that fits its daily activity and energy consumption.

Our food for adult dogs is intended as a complete daily diet and helps keep the dog in good physical condition.

Characteristics of food for adult dogs:

  • Complete daily nutrition
  • Tailored to adult dogs
  • Supports the maintenance of muscle mass and condition
  • Suitable for daily use

The correct daily amount depends on, among other things, the weight, breed, activity level, and physical condition of the dog.

Senior & Light

As dogs get older, their activity often decreases and their energy needs may also change. Senior & Light food is developed to match this.

This food is also suitable for dogs that are less active or for whom extra attention to body weight is necessary.

Characteristics of Senior & Light:

  • Adjusted energy content
  • Focused on older and less active dogs
  • Suitable for dogs with lower energy requirements
  • Supports the maintenance of a healthy body weight
  • Complete daily nutrition

Check your dog's physical condition regularly and adjust the amount of food accordingly if necessary.

Sport & Active

Dogs that move a lot, exercise, or work can use significantly more energy than an average household dog.

Sport & Active food is developed for dogs with increased energy needs. This food contains a composition that matches dogs that are subjected to intensive activity daily.

Think, for example, of sports dogs, working dogs, hunting dogs, or other dogs that move intensively for long periods.

Characteristics of Sport & Active:

  • For dogs with increased energy requirements
  • Focused on active, sporting, and working dogs
  • Supports the maintenance of muscle mass and condition
  • Suitable for intensive physical exertion

For a dog with a normal or low activity level, energy-rich sports food is usually not necessary.

Which food should you choose?

There is no single kibble that is the best choice for every dog. Therefore, always look at your dog's age, weight, breed, activity level, life stage, physical condition, and any food sensitivities.

A puppy has different needs than an adult or older dog. A pregnant or nursing female dog needs extra nutrients, and a very active dog may instead need a more energy-rich diet.

The choice between pressed, crunchy, grain-free, or vegetarian can also be tailored to what your dog needs and tolerates well.

When changing food, preferably switch gradually to the new kibble. This gives your dog's digestive system time to get used to the new food.
